It's fucked up how cops both don't have a duty to protect and serve (the phrase they plaster on all their gear) but if they choose to they are immune from any consequences of doing their job (and some times when they break the law). Huh. It's almost like all cops, regardless of their individual moral bearing, are constantly awash in perverse incentives to use the law in service of their own interests and prejudices - the sly bastards!
