I wish the timber jack was steel. I like that one! The fact that the deadwood is no longer a drop-bar Mtb was a bummer for me as well. I had an El Mar like yours. Great bike! I really like the alternator dropouts. I sold my Mar SS with the same fork to someone that was traveling through NM. I’ve got a Krampus now. I bought the Mar used and the M size frame was just a hair too small after a while to be comfortable. Now I feel like my L Krampus with EL Mariachi Movie Art Guitar Guns shirt rigid frame and 29+ tires is too large and not nimble enough for the trails. One day I’ll find my “just right”. It’s great for backpacking though and I don’t miss SS, but I do miss that frame, the suspension, and paint job.
